Help me make sure no one sleeps outside in Evanston's cold weather this winter.

We are long past Black Friday and Cyber Monday—days retailers hope to get themselves in the black. Unfortunately, I can’t get all the homeless people I volunteer for through Interfaith Action of Evanston (IAE) in the black, but I can at least try to shelter them from the Midwest’s dark, brutal winters.

On Jan 20, Martin Luther King Jr day, I am planning to join the Walk for Warmth to six IAE churches and synagogues, which take turns sheltering 35-40 people every winter night. It costs IAE $70,000 each year to provide cots, bedding, laundry, warm beverages, and paid supervisory staff.

To Walk with Me in Spirit-- Donate! Will you walk with me in spirit by making a donation to keep the IAE shelter open? Here is the link to my fundraising page; please consider making a donation to help me reach my goal of $1,000.+

The 2-mile family-friendly Walk for Warmth starts and ends at First United Methodist Church, 516 Church St., and is scheduled from 11 am - 1:30 pm. We will walk to six of the locations that generously provide space for the shelter in 3-week rotations throughout the winter. One of the locations we visit will be set up to shelter guests on that evening. Hope to see you on January 20th! Bundle up.

Thanks!
