$930 towards $2,000

Help us make sure no one sleeps outside in Evanston's cold weather this winter.

Have you ever pulled your car into a heated garage and been struck by the realization that your car has better shelter than many homeless people?

On Jan 20, Martin Luther King Jr. day, a day of national service, your Producemobile Organizers are planning to join Interfaith Action of Evanston (IAE) in its “Walk for Warmth” to raise awareness of homeless people facing a brutal winter. We will be raising funds to provide cots, bedding, laundering, and paid supervisory staff for a rotating Emergency Overnight Shelter (EOS) in six IAE churches and synagogue. To open the EOS every night from November 15 through March 31, it will cost $70,000.

Will you help keep the doors of the EOS open by joining the Producemobile Team in the “Walk for Warmth” on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? There are two ways for you to do so: walk with us on January 20th and/or donate.

Walk the (actual) Walk with the Producemobile Team: Help raise awareness of homelessness by walking with the Producemobile Team all or part of the way on January 20th. Your friends, relatives, and neighbors are all invited to join us! The 2-mile family-friendly “Walk for Warmth” starts and ends at First United Methodist Church, 516 Church St., from 11 am - 1:30 pm. We will walk a circular route to the six IAE churches and synagogue that each take a 3-week rotation sheltering up to 40 people. We will enter the one that is set up as the shelter for that night.

To Register for the Walk: Donate first, then click the back button on your browser twice to return to this page and register to walk.

Thanks!
